The Maypearl police chief says his training helped him to survive after a man pointed his gun at him and tried to fire, even though the safety mechanism was on.
Maypearl is located in Ellis County, about ten miles southwest of Waxahachie. It's where FOX 4's Fil Alvarado says the man hit the chief but no shots were fired.
