A Dallas taxi driver was arrested this morning over allegations that he attempted to kidnap a girl in Flower Mound, authorities said.

Razi Aamer

Razi Aamer, 51, of Dallas was charged with attempted kidnapping by Flower Mound police after witnesses said he tried to drag the girl into his car about 6 p.m. Tuesday in the 6800 block of Crooked Lane, said Officer Paul Boon, a Flower Mound police spokesman.

The girl, whose identity has not been released, was with a group of children ranging in age from 6 to 11 when the incident occurred, Mr. Boon said. The children told police that a man driving a cab tried to entice them to his car with money.

After the girl approached the car, the man grabbed her arm, Mr. Boon said. The girl was able to break free and run away. None of the children was injured. Police did not immediately release the age of the girl.

Witnesses told police that the man was driving a “Taxi Dallas” cab. He was later identified as Mr. Aamer, Mr. Boon said.

Flower Mound police interviewed Mr. Aamer Wednesday morning and monitored him until a warrant for his arrest was issued this morning, Mr. Boon said.

Mr. Aamer is being held in the Flower Mound jail in lieu of $50,000
