AKRON, Ohio -- A fugitive wanted in connection with a high-speed chase in West Virginia was arrested Thursday at an Akron home.
Authorities said 27-year-old David M. Burkhammer fled to West Virginia after escaping a Summit County detention facility, where he was serving time for felonious assault.
According to police, Burkhammer sped off during a road check, leading police on a high-speed chase for 50 miles. Police said Burkhammer's mother-in-law, pregnant wife and 5-year-old daughter and dog were passengers in the car.
Police said he fled on foot after losing control of his vehicle and dropping over a rock ledge, but he was brought to a halt when he shattered his leg in several places.
Police said that while Burkhammer was being treated at a hospital, he fled again, going back to Ohio.
Another fugitive, Adam Webster, was found hiding in the same home as Burkhammer.
Burkhammer faces six felony charges, including kidnapping, child neglect, creating the serious risk of injury and malicious assault on a police officer.
Misdemeanor charges include reckless driving, fleeing in a vehicle, hit and run and other traffic violations."Like" us on facebook! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Offic...93147194083228

Aparently he has an aversion to imprisonment. Perhaps they should have nailed his foot to the floor.
