APD officer nabbed on DWI charge

What a freakin moron.

An Albuquerque police officer is accused of driving his patrol car drunk.

Brandon Wilcox, 25, was arrested at his home early Thursday morning.

Police say that Wilcox crashed his patrol car into two curbs on opposite sides of the street near the intersection of Comanche and San Mateo in northeast Albuquerque. He abandoned the car and walked just over half a mile to his home, where another officer found him passed out, according to a criminal complaint.

A breath test showed Wilcox’s blood-alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit, police say.

He’s on paid administrative leave while an internal investigation is carried out. This investigation, police say, is on the fast track.

Meanwhile, he also faces a criminal charge of aggravated DWI.

“Chief Schultz is well-documented on his zero tolerance to DWI, “ said APD spokesperson John Walsh, “and it shouldn’t be anybody’s surprise on what may occur out of this.”

John Walsh? He better get back to hosting America's Most Wanted! It's cool he has a side job and all, but get real...

The high BAC or the fact that he was on duty maybe? I know here in MN a .20 or higher is an aggravating factor.
