Witnesses told police the 4-year-old retrieved the shotgun from a bedroom closet and shot Beavers. Police say another teen was also injured with shotgun pellets.Jackson County Sheriff John Shashteen said authorities are investigating the shooting. The child has not been charged.
What would have happened if the babysitter didn't give him a snack?

I don't know about anyone else, but my guns have locks on them if I am not at home (they would be in a safe if I didn't live in an apartment), which would have made this impossible. The fact that he knew how to shoot doesn't bother me, but the lack of safety concern by the parents does.

I'm with Ryan. I was shooting with my 4, 5 and 7 year olds a few weeks ago. It's the safety issue that bothers me.

At 4, I could have. The recoil would have knocked me on my ass, but I could have.

What idiot leaves an unsecure shotgun in a home where a four year old or teenagers could get to it? Evidently the kid knew right where to go to get the thing. Guess he didn't hear about the kid who killed his dad with a shotgun after he got spanked a few weeks ago.

That boy needs some marksmanship training!

I'm going to keep a copy of this article in my range bag. The next time an officer is b!tch!ng about qualifying with the shotgun, I'll give it to him.
