Angry 4 Year Old Shoots Baby Sitter, Cops Say

4-Year-Old Shoots Baby Sitter, Cops Say AP posted: JACKSON, Ohio (Jan. 5) - Police say a 4-year-old boy in southern Ohio shot his baby sitter because the sitter accidentally stepped on his foot. Police said 18-year-old Nathan Beavers and several other teenagers were baby-sitting several young children in a mobile home in Jackson on Sunday when the shooting occurred. Witnesses told police the 4-year-old retrieved the shotgun from a bedroom closet and shot Beavers. Police said the child was angry because Beavers accidentally stepped on his foot.Beavers was hospitalized with minor pellet wounds to his arm and side. Police say another teen was also injured with shotgun pellets.Jackson County Sheriff John Shashteen said authorities are investigating the shooting. The child has not been charged.

What would have happened if the babysitter didn't give him a snack?

I guess we'll find out when my daughter hits 4. If any of my kids would shoot me, it'd be her!

I don't know about anyone else, but my guns have locks on them if I am not at home (they would be in a safe if I didn't live in an apartment), which would have made this impossible. The fact that he knew how to shoot doesn't bother me, but the lack of safety concern by the parents does.

I'm with Ryan. I was shooting with my 4, 5 and 7 year olds a few weeks ago. It's the safety issue that bothers me.

At 4, I could have. The recoil would have knocked me on my ass, but I could have.

What idiot leaves an unsecure shotgun in a home where a four year old or teenagers could get to it? Evidently the kid knew right where to go to get the thing. Guess he didn't hear about the kid who killed his dad with a shotgun after he got spanked a few weeks ago.

Another, and perhaps bigger, question is what kind of parents raise a child that think it's OK to hurt people when they get their feelers hurt? Crappy parenting all around.

That boy needs some marksmanship training!

I'm going to keep a copy of this article in my range bag. The next time an officer is b!tch!ng about qualifying with the shotgun, I'll give it to him.
