Police fly flags in drugs raids

Police raiding the homes of suspected drug dealers in Staffordshire put up flags to warn criminals they are monitoring their actions.
Officers raided addresses in the Chesterton area of Newcastle-under-Lyme on Friday and arrested two people.
They found what they believe to be class A drugs, cash and drug equipment at two of the addresses.
A man and a woman were arrested and bailed. The Operation Nemesis flags were put up at three of the addresses.
The raids were carried out in Lilac Close in Crackley, Cherry Tree Road, Palatine Drive, Sunningdale Grove and Spencer Place, in the Chesterton area of Newcastle-under-Lyme.
The searches were carried out by Staffordshire Police as part of Operation Nemesis to reduce the drugs supply in the county. A 9ft (2.7m) high flag was raised above three of the addresses during the search to raise awareness of the operation.

I usually find the local community are aware of police drugs raids very quickly due to the large number of officers, dog units, occasionally armed entry teams and smashed up doors never needed a flag. I usually don't want public hanging around getting in the way.

Good job but I agree with you about the flags.

Flags during the op? Not so keen on that... As others have said, you'd think the cars, cops, dogs, etc. would be a clue -- though we have, on more than one occasion, been at a place doing a search warrant or busting a prostitution house and had some moron walk up to the door... often holding or wanted!

But I kind of like the idea of leaving a flag behind... Not huge, but something left behind to remind 'em you were there... if the mess and executed warrant isn't enough of a clue!

like a playing card with the "strike team" logo on it?
in the warriors code there's no surrender, though his body says stop, his spirit cries...NEVER. deep in our souls, a quiet ember, knows its you against you, its the paradox that drives us all. its a battle of wills, in the heat of attack, its the passion that kills, and victory is yours alone.

We're actually batting this around now... That's another one on the list, for the obvious reasons.
