Man Finds Backpack Full of Pipebombs, Turns it in to Sheriff's Station
Man turns in backpack filled with pipe bombs
2:00 a.m. March 24, 2009
SANTEE: A man who found seven pipe bombs in a backpack turned them in to the Sheriff's Department substation in Santee yesterday, prompting authorities to evacuate nearby businesses.
The man walked into the station on Cuyamaca Street, near Buena Vista Avenue, around 2:15 p.m. and left the backpack in the lobby, Lt. Mike Munsey said. The man said he found the bag with the bombs the night before, and one of them was leaking.
The sheriff's bomb-arson unit inspected the backpack and detonated each bomb individually, Munsey said.
Cuyamaca Street was closed between Mission Gorge Road and Buena Vista Avenue for about two hours, Munsey said.
The closure also disrupted trolley service, which runs on Cuyamaca to the Santee trolley station. –J.L.J.Molly Weasley makes Chuck Norris eat his vegetables.

That's why EOD units used to always have fences around their buildings. When someone hits the buzzer to come in, we'd look to see if they were carrying anything.
