  • SB 730- By Senator Glenn Hegar (R-Katy)/ HB 1301 by Rep. Stephen Frost (D-Atlanta)to allow on an employer's parking lot the possession of firearms and ammunition when stored in a private locked vehicle and to protect law abiding employees from termination for this possession.

    SB 730 allowing the legal possession of firearms and ammunition stored out of sight in a person's private parked vehicle on their employer's parking lot passed unanimously in the Texas Senate yesterday.
    This bill would allow concealed handgun licensees, hunters and sport shooters protection under the law to exercise their rights and be protected from termination due only to an employer's No-Gun Policy. The bill further states that the workplace or job site is wholly the domain of the employer and provides civil immunity for the employer.
    The author of SB 730 is Texas Senator Glenn Hegar of Katy. It was important to Senator Hegar to include sportsmen in his bill as in Katy if you see a bag of decoys in the back of a pickup truck, there's a shotgun behind the seat. Katy, Texas is famous for goose hunting.
    SB 730 will now be reported to the House and catches up to HB 1301 by Rep. Stephen Frost, the companion.

Joe Driver (R-Garland) Campus Personal Protection Act would repeal the Texas Penal Code ban for the possession of handguns by concealed handgun licensees (CHLs) on certain college and university properties currently prohibited by law.

  • HB 410 by State Representative Carl Isett (R-Lubbock)/ SB 838 by Sen. Hinojosa. This legislation repeals the requirement that when stopped by law enforcement a Texas concealed handgun licensees must display their license when carrying their handgun.
