'Dumbest criminal' nabbed in cop convention holdup
HARRISBURG, Pa. — A retired police chief said he was robbed by "probably the dumbest criminal in Pennsylvania," at a police officers' convention on Friday morning. John Comparetto said as he came out of a stall in the men's room, a man pointed a gun in his face and demanded money. There were 300 narcotics officers from Pennsylvania and Ohio at the gathering.
Comparetto gave up his money and cell phone. But when the man fled, Comparetto and some colleagues chased him. They arrested a 19-year-old man as he was trying to leave in a taxi.
The suspect is also awaiting trial on four previous robbery charges.
The suspect was arraigned and taken to Dauphin County Prison. When a reporter asked the suspect for comment as he was led out of court, he said, "I'm smooth."

"It's a great life. You risk your skin catching killers and the juries turn them loose so they can come back and shoot at you again. If your honest , your poor your whole life. And , In the end , you wind up dying all alone on some dirty street. For what? For nothing. For a tin star."

I was attending a DEA class on clandestine labs in the mid 80's at the local Hilton Hotel. Of course, all the attendees were narcs and looked scruffy at best.
In the last day of class, DEA put on a little refreshment bar and we were all milling around and talking. Some busboy working for the Hilton came in and I assume thought we were a bunch of dopers. He offered to sell one of the guys some weed. It was hilarious, everybody stopped talking and you could have heard a pin drop.
I'm surprised the kid didn't shit his pants. Unfortunately, since it was in Portland, I was designated to hook the little idiot up and jail him....

That's hilarious! Almost as bad as the guys who tried to rob the two officers that were in Jackson MS participating the National Police Pistol Matches a few years ago. Yea, that one did not go well at all for the bad guys.
