Customer 'Caveman' Smith Bashes Robber With Step Ladder

ACWORTH, Ga. -- An armed robber ran into one tough customer at an Acworth convenience store Monday.
The customer bashed the robber with a step ladder during a hold-up at the Conoco store at 5473 North Main Street.

The robber had pulled a knife, held it against the neck of a clerk and demanded money.
When the thief tried to leave the store with the cash, customer Don "Caveman" Smith picked up the step ladder and started swinging. He hit the crook at least once, causing him to drop some of the cash, according to Acworth police.
Channel 2 Action News reporter Ross Cavitt talked to Caveman Smith outside the convenience store and Smith explained why he swung into action.
"There's a lot of thieving that goes on around here and I don't like it," Smith said. "People work for their stuff and they ought to be able to keep it without somebody taking it away from them."dlefdal said:
