Oregon Trooper Hits Speeding Jackpot
So said Oregon State Senior Trooper David Petersen after he was able to catch up with six exotic sports cars on a stretch of Highway 18 near Grand Ronde on Thursday, according to a news release.
Perhaps a more amazing feat was that he stopped all the cars simultaneously.
"They just were all good little soldiers and pulled right over," Oregon State Police spokesman Lt. Gregg Hastings told CNN.
One of the drivers was later cited again on a different highway.
The drivers of the cars -- consisting of Ferraris, a Lamborghini and an Acura NSX -- told Petersen they were part of a group of 20 similar cars making an annual road trip, the news release said.
They were all cordial and cooperative, and were cited with speed racing, a class A traffic violation that can command a fine of $627, Hastings said.
After receiving reports Thursday morning that several sports cars were speeding and passing in no-pass zones west of Grand Ronde, Petersen set up east of the casino town, near McMinnville, and waited.
Five of the cars soon blew past him, running about 100 mph in a 55-mph zone, Hastings said. As Petersen pulled onto Highway 18 in pursuit, a sixth car passed him.
"I guess when you're going too fast, you're in a rock and a hard place," Hastings said.
Highway 18 runs from Dayton, Oregon, in the Willamette Valley to the Pacific coast. The stretch where the cars were cited is considered particularly dangerous and the Oregon Department of Transportation provides additional funding to enforce traffic laws there, Hastings said.
About two hours after the incident, another trooper pulled over the Lamborghini from the group in Multnomah Falls, about 90 miles east. The driver of the car, which bore the the license plate "BADBUL," was cited for driving 90 in a 65-mph zone, according to a news release.Never be afraid to do what's right, especially if the well-being of a person or animal is at stake. you ever seen that NSX??? it's definitely pretty - and stacks a nice price tag too...
i guess those facts, and the fact that it's Japanese, that makes it exotic...
although when I think of exotic, I think of European cars-=Twan007

Wolven, here are the pics for ya:

It's ridiculous they were driving that fast, but at least they had the decency to pull over. (Although I'd laugh my ass off if they spike stripped and impounded all cars.)

We've got a group of guys like that around here. They meet at a local steak house for lunch and hit the curvy roads. We don't get many complaints of excess speed though. Mostly older guys that can afford the cool man toys.

Was that the Gumball 3000? If those guys can afford those cars, and participate in that rally, they not only know they are getting tickets but they can afford them.

Thanks Vengeance!
If this had been my great traffic stop all the guys on my squad would have come over to 1) see the cars and 2) to see which one I was going to try and pick up, marry and take all their money. I have no idea why...they are constantly joking about finding me a 85 year old man and do an Anna Nichole. I tell them all the time that money is not my thing...and they said THEY would "ride the pony" for money depending on how much was. I swear..we are the squad without a filter. No shyness here. lolNever be afraid to do what's right, especially if the well-being of a person or animal is at stake. I dare them to do that in Iowa, they would more than likely hit a deer or 2. I'm surprised they stopped for the Trooper.

All units BOLO for an orange Lamborgini Gallardo. Suspect vehicle reckless driving and attempting to elude.
During the stop.
Sir I stopped you for running from one of my associates back up the road a while back.
You sure it was me?
Well I passed sixteen cars just like yours, but I'm sure your the one.
So yeah.
That is how it would go around here. The guys I talked about have even let us use their cars for photos at the training center. They know that there aren't that many Lambos in the area. I'll try to snag a pic or two the next time I see them at the steak house.
Now TX and the other areas that would be a different story.

Having been in an accident myself on that stretch of Hwy 18 (I grew up in the area), I'm really glad all that happened is that they got tickets. At that speed, with that many cars, on that road it was just death and mayhem waiting to happen.
