Barricaded Gunman in my city
One Allen Park, MI Officer wounded, thanks to his vest a shotgun blast didnt kill him when a man who was about to be served with an eviction notice opened fire as Officers approached the house. Now the stand off has been going on for about 5 hours. Over 200 rounds have been fired from the house, neighbors are right next door hiding in thier basements. Nothing has been heard since the last shot was fired at about 1530 hours, its 1730 as I write this. About 4 Teams are on scene and right now seem to be containing the situation, no responses from bull horn, telephone is cut off by the subject. They are waiting for a new robot to investigate the home.
More when I get it. Story is on www.wxyz.com
Prayers that the Officer recovers quickly.Insert witty comment and disclaimer here.

Just in: Suspect found dead inside his home. SWAT Team entered and found him dead. It is unknown if return fire killed him or if he took his own life. No activity was heard from the home since about 1530, prior to that over 200 shots had been heard and police returned fire. Still no update on the Officer. Again, I'll keep you posted.

We had a similar incident here a few months ago, that idiot DX'D himself with a .308 rifle round through the mouth. Luckiliy, none of our deputies were hit, but there were a bunch of close calls. I am glad that officer there was wearing his vest.

More of these will happen.
It seems more folks will take up their weapons of choice to "right the wrongs." Hell, we've had folks openly post to blogs and comment sections in these parts that they will kill cops for doing the job.

Police Officers put themselves at risk for strangers every day. Some do not make it home to their families. Next time you think of saying something negative about the police, remember...YOU are one of the strangers.
