Pirate Hunting Cruises
I'm all for ruining a pirate's day, but I have to agree with the Russian quoted at the end.
Makes me wonder what else the people signing up for these cruises may be in to.
*edit* : May be a parody Anavova picked up, may be real too, not sure. Damn, I should know better than to post from there...
Nothing lost really. The concept is the story, not the reality of the implementation.
Luxury yachts offer pirate hunting cruises
Luxury ocean liners in Russia are offering pirate hunting cruises aboard armed private yachts off the Somali coast.
Wealthy punters pay £3,500 per day to patrol the most dangerous waters in the world hoping to be attacked by raiders.
When attacked, they retaliate with grenade launchers, machine guns and rocket launchers, reports Austrian business paper Wirtschaftsblatt.
Passengers, who can pay an extra £5 a day for an AK-47 machine gun and £7 for 100 rounds of ammo, are also protected by a squad of ex special forces troops.
The yachts travel from Djibouti in Somalia to Mombasa in Kenya.
The ships deliberately cruise close to the coast at a speed of just five nautical miles in an attempt to attract the interest of pirates.
"They are worse than the pirates," said Russian yachtsman Vladimir Mironov. "At least the pirates have the decency to take hostages, these people are just paying to commit murder," he continued.

It seems like the Russians have become more capitalists then we have. All in all though I hope they take a few pirates out'Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a

Hmmm. I wonder if they offer proper firearms training or if it is strictly a point and shoot thing.

On one hand, I do agree with the quote at the end by the Russian guy. I wouldn't let "human hunting" go on for too long.
That being said, let it go for a little while and you'd more than likely see a drop in piracy due to the uncertainty of coming across armed victims. Same reason that places with CCW have a lower crime rate than those that don'tThe world would be much cleaner if blind people carried brooms instead of sticks.

They've got us surrounded? Good. Now we can fire in any direction. Those bastards won't get away this time.

Me too! Me too!
One modification I might make... The pirates also have AK-47's, so I suggest something with longer range and/or wider distribution, like a 20mm Vulcan or 50 caliber machine gun
Of course, a full-blown Phalanx system in volley mode would be even better at slapping them with a wall of lead or depleted uranium, but might increase the ticket price a bit
