Angry Police Describe Woman's Torture Ordeal

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Fort Worth police jailed a man Tuesday on charges of aggravated assault, aggravated kidnapping and retaliation.

The charges stem from allegations that Robert Drew Stephenson allegedly held his ex-girlfriend captive and tortured the woman for nearly three weeks.

Police said investigators found evidence inside a home in the 5200 block of Miller Avenue to support the woman's story and that her injuries are consistent with "extreme cruelty and sadistic torture."

According to police, Stephenson was angry at the woman because she had pressed charges against him, and he held the woman in retaliation.

During the 19-day ordeal, the woman was tied up, beaten and burned with a blowtorch, according to police accounts of the woman's story. The woman also said Stephenson poured drain cleaner on her wounds and forced her to have sex.

"At one point, he secured her legs with some type of rope device and hung her, secured her upside down," Fort Worth police Lt. Gene Jones said.

The woman said she escaped in Stephenson's truck while he was sleeping.

Police said the house belonged to Stephenson's deceased mother.

Neighbor Guadalupe Cordero said she has known Stephenson for three years. She was surprised by the allegations.

"The Drew I know, he would come around and ask if we needed help," she said. "He would help my mother. He'd help me around the house. He would help other neighbors around the house."

Police said Stephenson has an arrest record that dates to 1986. He has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, assault, aggravated assault and resisting arrest.

Yeah, it's guys like that who should receive a dose of their own medicine - How could that be described as cruel & unusual punishment?

Ouch! I was going to ask you if that's an inventory of your Ducky Den, but that question would be inappropriate so I won't ask

No, but most can be replicated at home with little to no investment.

My personal collection falls on the softer side.

Well I guess the State will have to outsource that guy's punishment to someone else then - It sounds like he may enjoy your Ducky Den too much

I'm not worried, Texas actually follows through on the death penalty. If it was one of the "let 'em rot in prison" states, I may have had to volunteer for some extra duty. And the nice thing is, I wouldn't have to kill him. The blood loss would.
