Osage County Kansas Deputies
Just letting everyone know, we lost 2 Deputies in our county this last week.
Deputy Kevin Gephardt was having a fling with an old girlfriend when his wife found out about it. She kicked him out and he decides to "end it all" at the Sheriff's Office. After walking around the halls with a gun to his head, he went into his office and sat at his desk with his duty weapon in his mouth. Other Deputies on scene talked him into taking the gun out of his mouth and giving it to them. The Sheriff suspended him and then allowed him to resign after his psychiatrist said he did not think he was able to come back to work. Currently, he is out applying for other cop jobs in the area.
Deputy Clay Heilscher, got mad and beat up his wife, spray painted her car and then fought with the Deputies that she called. He was booked into the County Jail on Domestic Battery, Criminal Damage to Property and Battery on an LEO. The Sheriff then allowed him to resign. Laurie Dunn is still sheriff.....went in the local newspaper wednesday. And you're right...these guys need help and I do hope they get it, because it does reflect directly on our county law enforcement and on all of us as it scatters through the news and blog columns.
