MIDDLETOWN The case against a Middletown man facing child sex charges was bound over to a Butler County grand jury.
Evan Slifer, 18, is charged with two counts of importuning and one count of gross sexual imposition, both felonies.
The 11-year-old girl testified April 1 in Middletown Municipal Court that late March 14 her older sister snuck Slifer into the house as their parents slept.
She said that Slifer allegedly engaged the girl and her friend, also 11, in about 60 sexually suggestive text messages and that he sent a sexually explicit photograph of himself via cell phone and allegedly exposed himself to the girls, according to the girl's testimony.
Visiting Judge Patrick Binns bound the case over to a Butler County grand jury and amended the importuning charges from misdemeanor to felony.
Slifer appeared at the preliminary hearing with attorney Geoffrey Modderman. A group of about six friends and family sat in the audience in support of him.
Slifer remains in Butler County Jail on $30,000 bond. Slifer's family and attorney declined comment on the case.
Middletown police Juvenile Detective Fred Shuemake warns youths against replying to graphic text messages, saying the sender typically will stop sending the messages if there is no response.
