Off-duty cop beaten

Register Staff Writer
Three Napa men were arrested after a fight with an off duty Vallejo Police officer Sunday.
At 1:45 a.m., Napa Police responded to Golden Gate Circle to the report of a disturbance.
The victim told them that some loud noise had awakened him, police said. He went outside and asked the people to quiet down, and an argument ensued, police said.
At some time during the confrontation, the victim told the men he was a police officer.
A man later identified as Paul Kevin Brewer, 20, hit him in the side of the face with a beverage container, either a bottle or a can, police said.

Hope the officer recovers quickly.

Prayers for a speedy recovery. That being said, I gotta ask what he was doing confronting people making a disturbance, AND identifying himself as a police officer without having some heat with him.

I agree with the above. If you are going to declare yourself an officer, be prepared to kill someone if you have to

That's because many parts of the Bay Area are slowly becoming a cesspool, and the liberals are just part of the problem. Such as downtown Oakland where those 4 cops were killed this last March.
I never really considered Napa in the Bay Area, though.
Shouldn't a LEO be prepared to kill someone 24/7/365?
Choose The Right. When you're doing whats right, then you have nothing to worry about.
Not a LEO

Well, since he DID identify himself, that might enhance the potential charges to the next felony grade if he did it before they hit him.
I'm the type of person that's always armed even though I don't plan to confront a group of people myself, so I can't imagine him doing that unless he knew them as neighbors or something. I don't think being prepared for something that may never happen is being paranoid.
I've even met some cops who think there's no reason to carry a gun unless they're in uniform, though, and think I'm kinda strange for doing it myself especially as a citizen, as if that would really made a difference if the shit ever hits the fan. Even as a Reserve, my FTO thought it was kinda strange to carry it all the time.
