13 Dead , 30 Injured in Shooting at Fort Hood, Texas
Fox News is reporting that 7 people are dead and 12 wounded in shooting on base at Fort Hood. One suspect is reported to be in custody , another shooter is reported to be on the loose. Base is on lock down.

A third shooter is reported to be an active shooter on base at Fort Hood according to Fox News.

Heard that a LEO is either one of the dead/wounded. At least three shooters. One in custody reported to be a 40 year old male armed with an AR style rifle.

Confirmed one civilian LEO among the dead. Shooter ,who was a soldier, was killed by civilian law enforcement. Two other soldiers were taken into custody. Above information was released at an Army press briefing.

Thats my old post, I patrolled there for 5 1/2 years as an MP/SRT member. That post always was a wild place. As for that major, he was also a damn shrink to boot. Pretty bad when a shrink goes on a shooting rampage. Back in the early 90's when I was stationed there, we had a bunch of soldiers (and civilians) murdered off post at Luby's cafeteria (21 or 22 killed that day I believe).
I hope that the other people involved rot in hell.

Isn't the base basically another "gun-free zone", except for MP's and practice range?
As dumb as that sounds, I remember having to go back and put my gun in my motel room when I visited Ft Hood years ago, but may have just been for civilians.
I should add, the sign didn't just specify civilians - it said absolutely no guns permitted beyond the gate. And I also saw a some soilders running around with empty holsters. No one had a visible gun except the (very) few MP's I saw.
