FHP: Tiger Woods Injured In Crash Outside Home
FHP: Woods Hit Fire Hydrant, Tree
POSTED: 1:57 pm EST November 27, 2009
UPDATED: 2:38 pm EST November 27, 2009
WINDERMERE, Fla. -- WESH 2 News has learned that golfer Tiger Woods was injured when he hit a fire hydrant and then a tree outside his Isleworth home early on Friday morning.
The Florida Highway Patrol said Woods was injured in the crash, which took place at about 2:30 a.m., and was taken to Health Central Hospital. The Orange County Fire Department confirmed that a patient was taken to Health Central, but would not confirm that the patient was Woods.
A source told WESH 2 News that Woods has been treated for facial lacerations.
Woods was driving a 2009 black Cadillac Escalade when he lost control and hit a fire hydrant outside his home and a tree outside his neighbor's home, FHP said.

Lost control, in & out of consciousness... "alcohol not a factor" but still under investigation.
Am I too cynical when I wonder what WAS a factor? Anybody wanna bet he checks into rehab for prescription pain meds in the next few weeks?Voting against incumbents until we get a Congress that does its job.

As soon as I read this story, I was instantly skeptical. I then read that it was 2:24 in the morning and in a gated community where the speed limit is 35 miles per hour. How you take out a tree and a fire hydrant less that 3 houses down from your own driveway after pulling out is beyond me. Unless one of three things or a combination of all them.
1) Drinking - but the local cops kept it under raps because his taxes pay for probably the entire departments budget
2) Prescription meds or some form of drugs
3) Fighting with his wife and got pissed and decided to leave. Floored the car when he left and since he's a an athlete and not a race car driver he couldn't control it.
My vote is all 3 were involved.
Sad, because was just about the only world athlete who was pretty much untouchable in the private life.Trigger Pull,

I agree... especially since the deputies apparently needed to say that they didn't know if it was a domestic incident or not.
And I'm kind curious about why, with mild damage to the car, the wife had to break out the back window with a golf club...
But there I go being mean and cynical again...Voting against incumbents until we get a Congress that does its job.

Honestly -- I'm going prescription meds for two reasons: publicity (sounds nicer... no matter what he was really on) and he's had surgery recently, so it's easy to blame. (Maybe that's publicity again...)

The report that Tiger's wife was pissed over an affair he had, and chased him out of the yard with a golf club, scratching his face and smashing his vehicle's window in the process, sounds like the most plausable explaination to me for his injuries in such a low-speed crash.
Someone arrest her - There hasn't been enough news on this yet

FHP said Woods' air bags did not deploy, indicating the car was moving slower than 30 mph.

I hope all turns out well and if he needs help, may he get what he needs. I like Tiger. Compared to all the thugs and idiots we have as athlete role-models, he is one of the better ones that keeps a low profile and just does his thing, even if he hawks for Buick.
Nothing clever here
