A Santa Rosa man who led police on a chase from Santa Rosa to Petaluma on Sunday night rammed two patrol cars, narrowly missed hitting officers and was struck with shotgun-fired bean bags, Taser barbs and bitten by a police dog before officers finally were able to get him into custody, police reported Monday.
Mark Inthilatvongsy, 35, was being treated for dog bites and other injuries Monday and was under guard at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. He was expected to go to Sonoma County Jail once released from treatment, police said.
Inthilatvongsy was given a four-year prison sentence for a similar case in 2003 when he drove more than 100 mph in a CHP pursuit in Santa Rosa. After crashing, when his car was engulfed in flames, he kept fighting officers trying to get him out, according to news reports at the time.
Sunday at 8:30 p.m. the chase started when Officer John Meteyer saw a Ford F150 pickup going 50 mph in a 35-mph zone in southern Santa Rosa.
The driver wouldn't stop and ran several red lights on Santa Rosa Avenue with the officer in pursuit, police said.
The truck headed onto Highway 101 north with police in pursuit and at Baker Avenue, he made a U-turn, facing several Santa Rosa patrol cars now involved.
The driver accelerated and headed for the cruisers, hitting one occupied patrol car and just missing a second car, Sgt. Michael Chad Heiser said.

Inthilatvongsy is Cambodian, Laotian, Thai, Vietnamese, Hmong, or something like that. Not sure which.
