BURGLARS WHO USE CHALK SYMBOLS TO MARK OUT HOMES
For years our criminal justice system has bent over backwards to let burglars know they’ll get no more than a smack on the wrist – assuming they are caught in the first place.
And that, of course, is a mighty big assumption. With so few police on the beat and so many burglars plying their trade, the chances of detection are vanishingly small.
Meanwhile householders who stumble across an intruder are utterly confused about their rights to “have a go”. Bring down a burglar and like as not you’ll bring down the law on to your own head. so Wednesday’s news that villains in surrey have developed a simple code identifying what sort of goodies are on offer in the houses that are “tagged” came as a sort of weary confirmation of just how bad things have got.

"It's a great life. You risk your skin catching killers and the juries turn them loose so they can come back and shoot at you again. If your honest , your poor your whole life. And , In the end , you wind up dying all alone on some dirty street. For what? For nothing. For a tin star."
Far from being a handicap to command, compassion is the measure of it. For unless one values the lives of his soldiers and is tormented by their ordeals , he is unfit to command.

I'm wondering why burglars would want to advertise that information to other burglars...
A notepad of addresses would be easier, and would prevent other burglars from jumping in and running off with all the loot.

There have been reports of that happening in the Houston area but just a little different. Gangs are doing burn outs in front of houses they plan to burglarize later as a signal to the rest of the gang members. I talked with a HPD Officer last night who said they have had several home invasions and they are seeing this as a trend.
