LUCASVILLE, Ohio -- An Ohio killer was put to death in an efficient 10 minutes Tuesday in the first U.S. execution to use a single drug injection instead of the standard three-chemical combination that has come under legal attack because it can cause excruciating pain.
Kenneth Biros, 51, was pronounced dead shortly after one dose of sodium thiopental began flowing into his veins at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility. The U.S. Supreme Court had rejected his final appeal two hours earlier.
Experts had predicted that sodium thiopental - used in many parts of the world to put pets down - would take longer to kill than the old method. But the 10 minutes it took Biros to die was about as long as it has taken other inmates in Ohio and elsewhere to succumb to the three-drug combination.
What I especially like are some of the comments. Who cares if it causes pain to the criminal? What about the pain that these criminals caused their victims? Where is their justice?

It's about time! I can't believe how long these scumbags get to live, while their victims are DECADES dead. And this guy, who carved an innocent girl up like meat, says that it's "inhumane" to drug him to death. When will society quit being run by sissies who can't do what needs to be done? We liquidate mad dogs, but a mad dog killer is somehow different.

The only problem I see about using the death penalty, is the time it takes before they are executed. He killed this lady in 1991, after almost 20 years he is dead.
Waiting this much time is the problem, 15-20 years after they commit the crimes they finally pay. If you start executing these criminals regularly, the crime rate will drop

I saw this on the local news last night and my first thought was also about how long it takes them to get put to death after they have been convicted and sentenced. My second thought was why do we care if it is painful, did he care about the pain he inflicted on his victim and her family?
My dad, I miss him every day.
