Even in Idaho police work can be risky.
We had an officer involved shooting a couple weeks ago. Our three officers are okay, but the suspect didn't make it. A rough thing to happen in Christmas. Here is a link in case you are curious.
Idaho police fatally shoot suspect - KPVI NEWS 6: Pocatello, Idaho Falls-Weather, Sports, News-
I was working that night and heard the call of shots fired, but I wasn't involved. Between the shooting of the five officers in the Seattle area and events down here in my area (the shooting and another suspect arrested for plotting the murder of a local police chief) it has been a very intense six weeks for cops.
Another link about the plotted murder of the chief. Homedale is south of Caldwell. The Homedale police chief was one of my instructors in the police acadamey ten years ago. I've even worked a case with him whne I was a detective with my department.

So for those of us who are cops in the so-called "greener" pastures let these two stories be a lesson to you. Stay alert.
And to everyone have a merry and hopefully peaceful Christmas.
