Sheriff, family face charges in murder-for-hire plot
Imprisoned Gallatin County Sheriff Raymond Martin, his wife and adult son are facing charges of solicitation of murder for ire.
Raymond Martin, 47, an inmate at Jackson County Jail; his wife, Kristina Martin, 36, and his son, Cody Martin, 20, both of Junction, were arrested Saturday on warrants signed by Judge W. Charles Grace following a request by Jackson County States Attorney Michael Wepsiec, according to Jackson County Sheriff's Office.
All three are now incarcerated in Jackson County Jail with bond set at $1 million each. They are expected to make their first court appearance on the charges Tuesday.
Authorities did not elaborate on the allegations Saturday, nor did they say whether they are related to federal charges pending against Raymond Martin.
The sheriff was arrested at his Shawneetown office in May. Federal prosecutors contend he was involved with a confidential source in the distribution of marijuana.
