Wal-Mart fires 69-year-old former Marine

Edward Bauman said he was simply doing his job as a Walmart greeter when he felt forced to defend himself against an apparently combative customer.
The 69-year-old former Marine said says he is disappointed after being fired by the retail giant and shunned by his former coworkers but hopes to move on with his life. "While we appreciate his intentions, Mr. Bauman's actions put his safety -- and perhaps the safety of our customers -- in jeopardy and, in the process, violated company policy as it pertains to how we treat people in our stores," said Ashley Hardie, a corporate spokeswoman for Walmart.
" As an unfortunate result of these circumstances, Mr. Bauman is no longer employed by our company."
The 69-year-old former Marine said says he is disappointed after being fired by the retail giant and shunned by his former coworkers but hopes to move on with his life.

Bauman said Lowery then grabbed his clipboard and skipped back into the store. Once inside, the pair struggled over the clipboard as surveillance cameras rolled.


"I can't talk about it," Lowery said. "My lawyer told me to keep my mouth shut."


Sounds like this smartass should have used that advice when he decided to jack with a former Marine.
