TEXAS CITY, Texas -- A Texas City police officer was arrested during a prostitution sting early Wednesday.

Investigators said Officer Christopher Lee Marshall, 33, was off-duty and in his patrol car when he solicited sex from a woman posing as a prostitute. Marshall was arrested and charged with solicitation of prostitution, a misdemeanor.

He was released from the Galveston County Jail on a $500 bond Wednesday and suspended with pay pending an internal investigation, said Chief Robert Burby.

"We are saddened about it, that's for sure," Burby said in Thursday's editions of The Galveston County Daily News. "No one is above the law, and we have a job to do."

In January, another Texas City police officer was arrested. Officials accused Officer John Wesley Holiday of filing false claims with the Federal Emergency Management Agency related to Hurricane Rita.
