12 yr old arrested for doodling on desk
NEW YORK — A New York City junior high student has been arrested for doodling on her desk with a marker.
Twelve-year-old Alexa Gonzalez scribbled "Lex was here 2/1/10" on her desk Monday. She also wrote "I love my friends Abby and Faith." The girl says the doodles could have been erased, according to the Daily News.
Moraima Tamacho says her daughter was released several hours after she was taken in handcuffs to a police station.

On one level it's overkill and stupid. But, there are some other angles... I worked one a few years ago when some dumbasses got hold of a marker, and literally wrote their own names and phone numbers on some playground gear. Prosecution was through an informal hearing -- and required restitution. Our public works people determined that the clean up costs were several thousand dollars, labor & materials costs.
And then there are the bangers... We've prosecuted middle school kids for gang related vandalism. Is that overkill? No way!
Like I said, this case is a little ridiculous from what's there. But not all of these sorts of things are!Voting against incumbents until we get a Congress that does its job.
