Plane Makes Emergency Landing On Highway 50
PLACERVILLE, Calif. -- A small aerobatic plane scraped a SUV as it made an emergency landing on Highway 50 Saturday morning.Pilot Jim Riordan was on approach to the Cameron Park Airport at about 11 a.m. Suddenly, Riordan said, the engine died near Highway 50."I found out I could safely make the freeway, so I started to parallel the freeway. And the whole time I was trying to restart the engine and couldn't get it to fire at all," Riordan said.He began merging with westbound traffic from overhead."If I hadn't have nicked the car on the way in, I would've made the El Dorado Hills Boulevard turnoff," Riordan said.
