Controversy over Starbucks decision to allow customers to carry guns
More here: Starbucks sticks to its guns on open carry policy - Mar. 4, 2010Starbucks said the gun-toting gatherings first began at its stores in Northern California after two other chains, San Francisco-based Peet's Coffee & Tea and California Pizza Kitchen, put policies in place to prevent gun owners from carrying firearms in their stores.
The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence then wrote a letter to Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz, urging Starbucks to enforce a similar policy. On its Web site, the Brady Campaign is soliciting supporters through an online petition that urges Starbucks to offer "espresso shots, not gunshots" and reverse its corporate policy.
On the other side of the debate, gun rights advocates are pleased with Starbucks' decision. Forum members of OpenCarry.org, a pro-gun Internet community with nearly 28,000 members, are posting that they are "impressed" with Starbucks' stance and will regularly buy the company's coffee to show support.
Starbucks said if it were to adopt a policy prohibiting customers from carrying guns in states where it is legal to bear firearms, that would require its employees to ask law abiding customers to leave stores, putting them in an unfair and potentially unsafe position.

Starbucks didn't decide to allow people to carry guns.
Fucking news slant sucks.

Mediocre coffee. But good for them for trying to stay out of it and not caving into the Brady Bunch.

I'm glad they are allowing them to carry inside. In most of the county's here where this is going on there is ZERO ability for law abiding citizen to obtain a CCW.

Typical Liberals trying to impose their will on someone else.
If a conservative doesn't like guns he won't get one.
If a liberal doesn't like guns they don't want anyone to have one.

"It's a great life. You risk your skin catching killers and the juries turn them loose so they can come back and shoot at you again. If your honest , your poor your whole life. And , In the end , you wind up dying all alone on some dirty street. For what? For nothing. For a tin star."
Far from being a handicap to command, compassion is the measure of it. For unless one values the lives of his soldiers and is tormented by their ordeals , he is unfit to command.

I don't get where the controversy is.... If you don't like their stance and don't want to go to a trendy coffee house that doesn't ban people with guns, then you pick a different coffee house. I guess the hippies feel conflicted between their fabulous $47 mocha-chinos and their misplaced ideals they hold so dear....
That being said, I choose not to go there because I don't want to spend 2 years salary just to get a cup of coffee that doesn't taste half as good as the cappuccinos out of the machine at the Speedway gas station. Oh wait, it's only 1 years salary after the police discount....

None of this would have been an issue if Sheriff's in CA would issue the damn permits, or if the legislature would make it a shall issue State.
