Philly officers who were fired get jobs back and pay
This is the article from May of 2008 regarding Philly Officers who were fired over a video tape showing them using force....an update to the status of the officers follows.
Jury: Police Had Right To Beat Suspects
Grand Jury: Officers 'Used Reasonable
Force'
PHILADELPHIA - MyFoxPhilly has learned that a grand jury says Philadelphia police officers who beat three suspects “used reasonable force” in accord with “training guidelines.”
No officers will face criminal charges in the case from May 2008. (But at the time four of the officers were fired.)
This is what a grand jury concluded on the actions of the Philadelphia Officers. It's not to inflict injury but to bring about a safe arrest.
"After a careful thorough and exhaustive year long invest we the jurors have independently concluded that criminal action is not warranted against any of the officers. We found that the police on the scene used only the amount of force -- and no more than that amount -- that they reasonably believed was necessary to bring under control and into custody three suspects in a shooting who had tried to elude capture, who were resisting arrest and who were creating a potentially significant danger to police."
Update: Eight police officers who were fired or disciplined...are getting their jobs back or punishments reduced...
They will also receive back pay.

Police Officers put themselves at risk for strangers every day. Some do not make it home to their families. Next time you think of saying something negative about the police, remember...YOU are one of the strangers.

Excellent! Too bad the department couldn't back them instead of throwing them under the bus.

If it were me as soon as I received my back pay and the job back, I'd be looking for a new dept!
Just because your sign off after you're shift is done, doesn't mean that it's over and put blinders on. You're a cop 24/7 wether you like it or not. If thats something you can't handle, you should find a new line of work!

Absolutely! Everyone there should be wondering about their future if the media puts them on tv.

Apparently not.Do not war for peace. If you must war, war for justice. For without justice there is no peace. -me
