Boy, 5, in 4-mile SUV joyride down dual carriageway
A boy of five took his mum's 4x4 on a four-mile joyride that included a dual carriageway yesterday - despite being too short for the pedals.
Motorists dialled 999 after seeing Thomas Chatfield in the Mitsubishi Shogun, his head barely visible above the dashboard. Others tried to stop him but he gave them the slip.
The lad could only trundle along at 10mph in the powerful 2.6-litre automatic car.
But he still turned off the carriageway, weaved along country lanes, smashed into two parked vehicles and clipped a passing motorist before halting when he hit a wall. A driver following Thomas pulled out the sobbing child unhurt.
One family pal said: "He's a clever boy. He's seen his mum drive loads of times and must have tried to copy her."

And think of all the pollution that boy caused by joyriding a SUV! Why couldn't he have picked a hybrid to joyride instead?
