Phillies fan tasered after running onto field

PHILADELPHIA – A police officer used a Taser gun to apprehend a fan who ran onto the field during a Phillies game Monday night, and the team and the police are investigating whether it was an appropriate use of force.
The fan, wearing a baseball cap, red T-shirt and khaki shorts, hopped a fence and scurried around the outfield, eluding two security officers in the bottom of the eighth inning against the St. Louis Cardinals. One officer used a Taser and the fan went down in a heap. Several Phillies placed gloves over their faces and appeared to be stifling laughter at the wild scene.
Phillies spokeswomen Bonnie Clark said the police department is investigating the matter and discussing with the team whether using the stun gun was appropriate.

Fuck them. That department is run by hand wringing weenies and if the team doesn't like the way the cops do their job then they can take care of the field without cops.

I see several things wrong with the video.

1) Why is there only one Uniformed officer working the field?
2) I have no problem with him using a taser. Personally I like the old clothesline or tackle but he was the only officer so I have no problem with it.
3) Running on the field is both dangerous to the fans and the players. This should not be taken as a joke.

Word. You'd think that being at war and all, with the prevelence of terrorist attacks and violence in this world, that we would understand this as a nation. But, too many sniveling whiners out there looking to MMQB anyone who does take action (or are just outright looking for a paycheck for their stupidity) that we will never see the light.

Glad to see his PD is backing him, though.

Yeah the day before a terrorist planted a bomb in times square and all we can do is whine about some pansy ass liberal 17 year old who thinks running onto a professional baseball field is funny. What that idiot doesn't understand is that he probably just screwed himself out of getting a good career for the rest of his life, because any respectful corporation or career does background checks now.

As has been said before. Welcome to working a "job" the rest of your life versus working a "career".

What kills me is that ESPN didn't shut up about this incident all day. They literally have been talking about this with every single analyst since last night and giving this way to much attention. If I have to hear one more liberal puke say that they know someone who died because of a taser I'll puke. Ok, I'm getting off my soap box now. Sorry boys and girls.

It still could have been a dry run...you never know. And even if it wasn't a dry run, what does it say to any terrorists we do have that might have seen it?

I wish they'd tased those guys in the Gorilla and Banana suits that ran across out High School field last year. Instead they just ticketed them, which wasn't nearly as entertaining

I've only seen two field runner incidences that I thought was cute. One was a cat. The other was a dog. For an adult to do so is just lame and smacks of poor upbringing.
