A fan is escorted off the field at Citizens Bank Park on Tuesday evening, a day after a teen was tasered by a Philadelphia Police officer for running onto the field. For the second night in a row, a Phillies fan decided to jump onto the field and interrupt play at Citizens Bank Park.
With the Phillies up 1-0 in the top of the 9th inning against the St. Louis Cardinals, 34-year-old Thomas Betz of Warminster man decided to jump the left field fence and stop the game Tuesday night.
Betz was booed by the sellout crowd as he ran along the warning track waving his arms. He quickly surrendered to security without incident and was taken off the field.
Betz told his followers on Twitter to turn on the game prior to jumping onto the field.
At about 9 p.m. Tuesday, Betz wrote a message on his Twitter page that read: turn on the phillies game, im about to be on the feild!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Police say Betz was carrying marijuana and he is facing possession charges, along with disorderly conduct criminal mischief.
The incident comes just one day after a teenager was tasered after running onto the field.
The parents of the 17-year-old Steven Consalvi believe police used too much force after tasering the teen as he ran on the field Monday night.
"He definitely shouldn't run on the field. Fine him, whatever he gets for that," said Wayne Consalvi, Steven Consalvi's father. "But tasering him? Definitely uncalled for."
However, Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey said he has reviewed the tape and felt the officer had acted within the department's guidelines.
"As of right now, I've not seen anything that would indicate that the officer acted outside of our policy," Ramsey said. "The bottom line is: the field is for players, umpires, managers and others. It is not for fans."

He surrendered quickly? If he really had any balls he would have taken the taser like the guy before!

I'm betting he's assuming the other kid is going to be a payday from the taser incident. He was hoping to cash in.

i will proudly say im a meathead philly fan. all philadelphia sports.
in the warriors code there's no surrender, though his body says stop, his spirit cries...NEVER. deep in our souls, a quiet ember, knows its you against you, its the paradox that drives us all. its a battle of wills, in the heat of attack, its the passion that kills, and victory is yours alone.
