Accidently Released Inmate Charged
Who says Honesty Pays. He is screwed either way he turns.
CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - An inmate who was accidentally released from the Charleston County jail turned himself in Friday night. Now he may face escape charges, even though the sheriff admits his department "messed up."

Ouch. It does speak for him that he turned himself in willingly, but he had a hand in getting out, too. I can see some disciplinary actions in some employee's futures either way it goes.

A lot depends on exactly how the mistake went down. If the deputies basically pulled him out with the group to be released... Yeah, he shouldn't be charged. But if he just kind of mingled in with them, and walked out with them on his own? Charges make sense.
