Suspicious device found near Hemet Police Dept
Suspicious device found after fire near Hemet Police headquarters
Hemet Police Department released the following press release:
On 6-3-10 at approximately 9:54 p.m., a fire was reported at the Los Altos Market in the 100 block of N. Carmalita St, in downtown Hemet. Hemet Fire units extinguished the fire quickly, minimizing the damage to the building.
During the firefighting operation, fire personnel located a suspicious device near what they believed was the point of origin. Hemet Police were notified and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Hazardous Device Team responded to investigate. The device was removed from the location and transported elsewhere for inspection and disposal.
Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire and whether the suspicious device and the fire are related. Police are asking for the public’s help with this investigation, and asking anyone who may have seen or heard anything to call the police department. Citizen’s can call the department at (951) 765-2400 or they can leave information anonymously on the tip line at (951) 765-3897.

No, the media ran with that possibility at the beginning, mostly because the gas line incident was across the parking lot from where an OMG funeral took place the day before.

BIG corrects his correction. It was the Vagos who were originally suspected, not the Pagans.
