A 22-year-old Ukiah woman was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment Thursday after officers allegedly found drugs and alcohol within reach of her unsupervised toddler, the Ukiah Police Department reported.

According to the UPD, officers responded to a residence in the 800 block of Waugh Lane shortly after midnight July 1 after neighbors reported hearing yelling and something hitting a wall.

When officers arrived, they reportedly heard yelling and banging inside, and saw a 2-year-old child walking around among "alcoholic beverage containers and marijuana smoking devices."

The child's mother, Kristin Mallean, was reportedly intoxicated, as was a 17-year-old girl who told officers she was the child's babysitter.

Officers also located 18-year-old Kadie Copley, who was reportedly unconscious and lying next to several prescription pain pills, which were accessible to the child. When officers attempted to evaluate her medical condition, Copley was reportedly belligerent and punched one of the officers.
