ROCK HILL, SC (WBTV) - Two weeks after police say a Clover man assaulted his pregnant girlfriend while she was giving birth in the hospital to their child, he remains behind bars and she is speaking out about domestic abuse.

Marquavious Bell was arrested and charged last Sunday with Second Degree Criminal Domestic Violence.

According to the Rock Hill Police Department, Bell attacked his 21-year-old girlfriend, Heather Fox, at the Women’s Center at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill back in mid-July.

Fox had checked into the hospital to give birth to the couple’s baby. Fox told police she was given some medication that "made her groggy." A short time later, Bell and Fox got into an argument. The police report says Bell "struck her in the face with an open hand."

"The most happiest moment of my life became the worst," Fox said. "I hated it… He snatched the phone out of my hand, hit the part where you talk at [and] he hit me with it. Then, he repeatedly kept hitting me in the head, slapping and hitting my head."

As her contractions became more frequent and painful, Fox said the abuse also worsened.

"I had to call the nurses in there because he hit me again and it started to hurt," said Fox. "The punches and slaps were getting harder."

Police say this isn't the first time there have been problems with the couple. There is a long paper trail documenting their rocky relationship.
According to a police report, Ball has tried to shoot Fox and assault her in the past.

Gaaah, ain't love grand.
