I had the privilege of escorting Senator Stevens from one gate to another here back when I was a rookie. He was a very nice man and had us stop for ice cream with his grandson between flights. Ethics violations a couple years ago sullied an otherwise stellar Senate career.

RIP Uncle Ted. I would have liked to see him get a re-trial after they discovered that prosecuters suppressed evidence that could have helped him

His funeral is today. VP Biden and other dignitaries are in Anchorage to attend.
