San Francisco may ban toys with fatty restaurant meals

SAN FRANCISCO — Toys in fatty fast-food meals could soon be banned in San Francisco.

A law proposed Tuesday pertains to all restaurants, but it is clearly aimed at fast-food establishments like McDonald's, Jack in the Box and Burger King that include toys in kid meals.

The proposal bans including toys if the food contains too much fat, sugar or salt.

This is pretty stupid. Are we that dependant on government that we need laws like this? If people are we are doomed.

Obamacare is going to track your BMI but I guess that's just so they can tell what you're allowed to eat.

Have you seen the numbers on American obesity lately? The percentage of deaths that come from heart attack, stroke, preventable-types of cancer? Type 2 diabetes? Yes, there are some people that will apparently eat themselves into an early grave. And now, Idiocracy-style, those fatties are getting together with other fatties, somehow making their genitals touch and creating babies, who they are raising to be fatter and dumber than they were. It's not going to shock anyone around here, but I'm all for taxing the dogshit out of burgers, fries, sodas, ice cream, etc. It won't really affect someone with a healthy diet who splurges on a chocolate shake every now and again. But the people who eat that shit 3 times a day forever AND shovel that garbage down their kids' mouths? It's as close to a "stupid tax" as we can get. Any incentive we can give dumb people to not kill themselves with food is good....even the guys in charge of the military say that they're seeing big-tittied recruits who can't complete basic anymore. Sad that some people need to be helped from themselves...

Again, if someone wants to eat themselves to death, go for it. They deal with the consenquences in the end. Where does this end up at? Will I be not allowed to have a steak anymore? How bout butter on my toast? Where is the line drawn?

yes on the steak, but only if it's med rare, no on the butter.

just kidding...I would fully support a fast food tax and a tax on soda, but not one on unhealtheir foods you cook and eat yourself.

We are already taxed almost 10% here for any dine in/take out/fast food eatery place here. Its nuts. Between fed, medical, ssn, state, gas, sales, phone, cell, and registration I'm already taxed enough. If you add all that up I'm loosing over 50% of my income already. I don't agree at all that the government has the right to be able to tell me what to eat or to punish me (taxes) for eating something that I want to eat.

That's not the job of the government and had the feds stayed out of paying for healthcare for all those fat stupid people (very tolerant and non-judgmental of you) it wouldn't be worried about how they kill themselves. Maybe if people were responsible for paying their own bills there would be incentive to not eat their way into the ER all the time.
