Evesham police begin posting DUI arrest pics, details on Facebook | courierpostonline.com | Courier-PostIf the threat of incarceration isn't enough to prevent crime, Evesham police hope the possibility of exposure on a top social networking website is.
The department's 6-month-old Facebook page features video surveillance clips, dozens of mug shots, police reports, photos of missing persons and policing initiatives. On Monday, it added names and photos of suspects arrested for drunken driving.
"This arms the public with information and puts a face with a name," said Evesham police Lt. Walt Miller. "We've got a lot of information on our (Facebook) wall. We're only as good as the information the public gives us."

EVESHAM — Township police took down a Facebook page posting the name and mugshots of people arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated, a report on CourierPostOnline.com said.
The site was taken down Thursday after three days because DUI is a motor vehicle offense, not a criminal one in New Jersey, and the department needs to find out if the practice is legal, according to the report.
