Mixed results from Austin's red light traffic cameras
Austin public safety commissioners say there have been mixed results at intersections where red light traffic cameras were installed.
At seven of those intersections, the number of accidents has dropped. But at two intersections, authorities have actually seen a significant increase in crashes.

yeah, I'd figure about the same here - just working the street - no stats involved, I can't tell you how many wrecks I work from folks slamming on the brakes at a yellow light so they don't get a ticket, then the knucklehead slamming into them because they're trying to beat the light...
my head hurts when those intersections get dispatched... because the first thing is "well, it's recorded on camera right????" and then "will I get a ticket because he pushed me into the intersection??" - seriously...
or the ones who refuse to follow my hand directions while I'm directing traffic manually (for whatever reason) at those intersections because they don't want a mailed in ticket...
or the ones WHO WON'T MOVE FOR MY LIGHTS AND SIRENS because they don't want a ticket...
yeah... headache...

I'm just glad we outlawed them here, mostly for the reasons that Twan mentioned and the fact that a machine should not be issuing citations.
