Bush: FDLE Commissioner resigned after he made inappropriate remarks
Gov. Jeb Bush acknowledged today that former Florida Department of Law Enforcement Commissioner Guy Tunnell resigned after making inappropriate remarks about civil rights leaders.
Speaking to reporters this morning, Bush said that he met with Tunnell and Lt. Gov. Toni Jennings at Tunnell's request on Thursday and that Tunnell gave his immediate resignation and apologized to Jennings, who was present when the remarks were made.
Published reports say Tunnell joked at an agency head meeting about an upcoming protest rally that featured civil rights leaders the Revs. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton and compared another leading African American to Osma Bin Laden.
