Suspect Jumps From Police Car, Hit By 2nd Car
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- A 20-year-old man being taken to jail has been seriously injured after jumping out of a police car going 60 mph and getting hit by another car.
Police said that John Winkler of Colorado Springs was handcuffed when he jumped out of the police car Tuesday. They said Winkler opened the front passenger door, jumped out, recovered from his fall and was running across Interstate 25 when he was hit.
Police said his injuries are life-threatening. Authorities said Winkler was arrested on two felony warrants.

It had to have been a specialized unit. None of the cars our patrol guys ever use are without cages. It could have been the SO though.

John R. Winkler, 43, of Oklahoma, allegedly threatened to kill the officers who were transporting his son, John Winkler, 20, when he attempted to flee by jumping from the patrol car, Colorado Springs police said.
Winkler has not been charged for the threats but was being held on parole violations.
