Home invasion fail
Wife shot, killed one intruder after her husband wounded
For the sixth time in five months, there's been gunfire during a South Knox County home robbery.
The latest incident, Monday night, involved a woman shooting and killing a man with a lengthy criminal history during a home invasion robbery after the intruder had struggled with and shot her husband, authorities said Tuesday.
A second interloper escaped, apparently uninjured, and was being sought by police.
According to Knoxville Police Department spokesman Darrell DeBusk, the officers responded to the incident at 210 Colonial Drive at 8:47 p.m. Monday. A 4-year-old boy also lives in the home.
When officers arrived, they found Joshua Dexter Watson, 24, of Knoxville dead from multiple wounds administered by a .357-caliber revolver belonging to the homeowners, DeBusk said.
The wounded husband, Jonathan Franklin, age unavailable, was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center with what police termed non-life-threatening injuries.
DeBusk declined to say where on his body Franklin had been shot.
Two suspects, DeBusk said, knocked and "then kicked in the door." The two intruders struggled with Franklin, and one of the suspects shot him.
"During the fight, the suspects were demanding at first drugs and then money from the victims," DeBusk said.
After Franklin was shot, Jamie Franklin, 21, grabbed the household .357-caliber revolver and "fired several rounds, striking one suspect more than once in the upper body," DeBusk said.

Another predator with a lengthy criminal history the system couldn't handle. Hmmm. Methinks he won't do this again.Watson had a criminal history that began even before his 18th birthday, records show. He was facing a charge of aggravated robbery in 2004 before he turned 18.
After that, Watson racked up dozens of charges, including drug possession, theft, evading arrest, reckless driving and violation of probation for the aggravated robbery conviction, records show.Do not war for peace. If you must war, war for justice. For without justice there is no peace. -me

The family ultimately won the day, but I hope this doesn't trouble them later on. Pretty sure that this wasn't on the wife's agenda for the day. Then again, multiple upper body shots with a .357 tells me she might be more mentally prepared than I'm giving her credit for. I certainly hope so.

Another idiot down. How long until some clueless soul goes on the record to tell the world how he was "turning his life around"?
Nice shooting, Jamie.
Oh, Jonathan, you made a valiant effort, but I think your wife just earned that spa day.
