A NEW breed of ''cold-blooded, brazen criminal'' is partly to blame for a sharp rise in the number of deaths of American police on the beat, with 60 officers shot dead this year.
The killings have continued even during the holiday season.
A Massachusetts officer was shot dead during an armed robbery on Sunday, while a day later a Georgia state trooper was shot dead after pulling over a car in Atlanta.
National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund chairman Craig Floyd said budget cutbacks were forcing police to do more with less ''and it's putting lives at risk''.
''In addition to their conventional crime-fighting responsibilities, our law officers are on the front lines in the war against terror here at home,'' he said.
There were five multiple police killings in 2010, including two drug squad officers gunned down on an Arkansas highway by two men brandishing AK-47s.

I only see this getting worse too. The juveniles in this area are more brazen and less caring then the previous generation. As they get older they seem to get worse and dont care about consequences and dont have a concept of taking responsibility for their actions.

I completely blaim the justice system in this country that always leans to the side of not keeping criminals in prison. Last week my shift nabbed a burglar that burglaized a home that was occupied by a 93 year old widow. He had 33 felony arrest on his record from other burglaries, thefts, drug possession ect. The man was only 31 years old. When you have had more felony arrests than birthdays, that is a damn disgrace.

I too blame the justice system, both adults and juveniles. I also blame the bleeding heart liberals who think that everyone deserves more and more and more chances instead of prison. Every state needs the 3 strikes rule and stick to it regardless what the third strike is for.
