I'm all for breaks but 100 + is way to fast. I would have done the same thing.

I just have one thought: What would happen to an officer going 102 in a 55 on the way to an in-progress bodily injury felony, if they were to crash and injure or kill someone? There is a good chance they would be civilly and criminally liable.
102 is just too fast.*************************"It wouldn't take much for me to up and run...to another life somewhere in the sun."

Im all for breaks and using reasoning, but 100+ is stepping over the line. How would the father feel if he had gotten into an accident and killed his wife and/or unborn son?

I'd have mailed it to him if he stopped.
Otherwise, sounds like the Trooper was professional.I'm your huckleberry...

There are just too many things that could have gone wrong at that speed. That is reckless, and endangers everyone in the car, and all of the motoring public around them. A baby being born is not that emergent. Women have been having babies long before panicked fathers were driving them at over 100 MPH, and oddly enough the human race still exists. I can't think of a time where I went over 100 to anything outside of a pursuit - it's just not worth the danger. Simple risk of a baby being born in a car doesn't excuse risking so much. If he had hit a deer at that speed, chances are someone would have been injured or died.
The trooper did the right thing.Idiot

100+ is way out of line. I would cite him too. At that speed we have the option of cite or book in jail.

I wouldn't have a problem with the judge dropping the charges but I would have cited him as well after the escort. Almost double the limit but he wasn't driving careless?

Over a hundred... Why not just call for an ambulance from home?
And... he says he got on his cell phone right away, so that the trooper would know he wasn't fleeing.
So he's traveling 100+, in some traffic, and talking on the cell phone...
He should be thanking God that nothing happened.Voting against incumbents until we get a Congress that does its job.

I like how the trooper escorted them and then after the emergency was over, conducted business. Very professional.
