Score one for the good guys/gals.
A Washington State Patrol trooper shot at a man in a Fife parking lot Wednesday after the man allegedly tried to run her down following the theft of two cars and a pursuit that spanned two counties.
The man was arrested after crashing into a tree and being shot twice with a Taser. The bullets fired by the motorcycle trooper went through the windshield of the suspect’s vehicle but did not hit him.
A police chase started about 2:30 p.m. when a car-theft device signaled that a BMW stolen earlier in the day was in Federal Way.
A King County sheriff’s patrol car pursued the stolen car at high speed down Interstate 5. At one point, the BMW pulled off the freeway before returning and heading for Fife.
The chase led to the Costco business center at 20th Street in Fife, where the driver ditched the BMW and then stole a red Honda Civic in the parking lot, trooper Johnny Alexander said.
The Honda headed west on 20th Street East, and the driver was confronted by a State Patrol motorcycle officer.
“The suspect ran the vehicle right toward our motorcycle trooper, and she dumped the bike,” State Patrol Sgt. J.J. Gundermann said. “The suspect stopped, backed up and then tried to run her over, at which time she engaged her sidearm and shot two times.”

"It's a great life. You risk your skin catching killers and the juries turn them loose so they can come back and shoot at you again. If your honest , your poor your whole life. And , In the end , you wind up dying all alone on some dirty street. For what? For nothing. For a tin star."
Far from being a handicap to command, compassion is the measure of it. For unless one values the lives of his soldiers and is tormented by their ordeals , he is unfit to command.
