Teen left in car wreckage for 49 minutes after 999 call taker forgot to alert fire crewsA TEENAGER was left in a car wreck for almost an hour after a Notts emergency call operator forgot to alert fire crews, an inquest heard.
Justin Luckins, 17, was trapped in his Vauxhall Corsa for 49 minutes before firefighters arrived.
An East Midlands Ambulance Service worker admitted she did not alert police and fire services as her 12-hour shift was about to end.
In a statement read to the coroner, dispatcher Rita Rooney, who is based at the EMAS control centre in Nottingham, said: "I did not, on this occasion, inform police.
"The only reason I can give is this was the end of my shift."
It's events like this that make me always report or complain about mistakes made by control rooms and call centres. In this case the outcome wouldn't have been any different by there was still a front line crew unable to do there job for nearly an hour because someone forgot to make a telephone call."all that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing" Edmund Burke.
"the world is a dangerous place place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who do not do anything about it" Albert Einstein
