Mother banned from taking pictures of her newborn baby at Maryland hospital... because of fears over staff privacy
A mother was banned from taking pictures of her baby just after she was born because of hospital health and safety rules.
Bosses were so concerned for the privacy of their staff that they told Laurie Shifler that she could not take photos of the momentous occasion.
The same hospital had earlier issued statement to all parents saying they had to wait five minutes until after the birth to take pictures.
Meritus Medical Centre, in Hagerstown, Maryland, has now instigated a ban on all pictures and
video during the birth and after until the medical team has approved.
All mobile phones must also be switched off under the draconian rules.
Outraged Ms Shifler, 36, started a Facebook petition against the hospital’s decision and has already attracted hundreds of followers calling for change.
The mother of eight said: ‘It’s about our rights. It’s my child.
‘Who can tell me I can take a picture or not take a picture of my own flesh and blood?’
She told the New York Times that her husband Michael, 37, a policeman, was finally allowed to take a picture of Kelii 30 seconds after the birth but that the rules were too harsh and needed to be changed.

There should be a website, where if your Hospital, school, city hall, etc. has a policy that is flat out retarded like this, the general public should have 7 business days to decide if the "decision makers" get to keep their jobs.Wiping the turds of humanity from the ass of society from 1600 to midnight.

It doesn't suprise me. Hospitals have gone so over the top with their "privacy" policies that its annoying. I've even had some hospital staff try to stretch HIPPA and inform me that I was not allowed access to staffing information when looking to see what nurses or doctors were working the ER for a particular incident. They claimed that HIPPA applied to them and they were not allowed to divulge that information. They lost that debate, and quite severely."Like" us on facebook! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Offic...93147194083228

We finally had to bring in a copy of the HIPPA law to our E.R. staff and explain it to THEM because they consistently tried to keep information from us.No one has greater love than this, to lay down ones life for ones friends - John 15:13

Sounds more like fear of evidence in the event of litigation, than protecting the privacy of employees.Beware the fury of a patient man.
