Starving Children Found in Filthy SUV

Paramedics in San Antonio discovered an emaciated six-week-old girl and a 14-month-old boy living with their mother and grandmother in an SUV.

The mother -- 18-year-old Heather Evink -- and 40-year-old grandmother Sheila Evink are charged with injury to a child and endangering a child.

The children were discovered yesterday in the litter-filled sport utility vehicle a day labor site.

The boy is with Child Protective Services. The girl remains hospitalized.

Bond for the mother is $45,000. The grandmother is held on bond totaling $50,375 due to outstanding warrants.

In an unrelated case San Antonio, 24-year-old Ruby Diaz was arrested Sunday after her six-month-old daughter was taken to the hospital.

Police say the baby has fractures and head trauma so severe that she might go blind.

Diaz is charged with assault causing serious bodily injury to a child.

Bond is $35,000.

Her other two children earlier were taken by CPS and are up for adoption.
